Plenty of jumps racing fans, trainers and jockey’s class this weekend’s meeting at Chepstow as the real start of the National Hunt season.

For many, the road to the big Spring festival’s at Cheltenham, Punchestown and Aintree start this Saturday. With the big names returning to action after spending the hotter months on their holidays.

For other horses, it’s time to mix it with the big boys after plenty of action through the summer.

That’s exactly what Alcala has to do at Chepstow tomorrow (Saturday) as he’s been entered in another Listed race, this time the totequadpot Novices’ Chase, also known as the Robert Mottram Memorial Trophy.

It’s a hot little affair that has been won down the years by the likes of Cue Card and has also had last year’s Gold Cup third Native River in the places just a few years ago.
