RIP Stars Above Me

We received the terrible news on Friday 2
March that Stars Above Me died whilst foaling
and that we also lost her foal. Of course, this
is the most distressing news you could ever
wish to hear and it seems that we have
endured a fair share of heartache recently,
having lost New Fforest in the same way last
Spring. Linda Coffey at Oak Lodge was
understandably very distressed when relaying
the news and the problem was that the foal
was breached and the situation became
hopeless very quickly. The vets worked
extremely hard to save Stars Above Me and her
foal but in the end, there was nothing that
could be done and the kindest thing was to put
Stars Above Me to sleep.
This is a bitter blow for our Breeding
Programme, as Stars Above Me looked like a
really exciting addition. She was a talented filly
on the racecourse, winning the Saratoga Cup
in America for trainer Graham Motion, after
enjoying an excellent juvenile career with Roger
Charlton. She had just one foal – Circle Of Stars
– who will soon be joining Charlie Fellowes in
Newmarket. Stars Above Me was the best
offspring out of Kalinova and so we will be
hoping that Madison, Kalinova’s good-looking,
un-raced three-year-old daughter, can continue
to fly the flag this year.

I’m absolutely gutted as she was a lovely mare to be involved in lets hope that her only son Circle of Stars can really shine on the racecourse….
