Spring is in the air and the National Hunt season is drawing to a close, but while the big name horses from Cheltenham and Aintree take a well-deserved rest, and the legendary Cue Card retires for good, there is another that is eyeing up a memorable summer.
Alcala, who I own a share in, notched up a 5-timer last year including a career-best effort when winning the Summer Plate at Market Rasen, thanks to a superb ride by top jockey Sam Twiston-Davies.
For my first taste of racehorse ownership, what Alcala achieved was beyond my wildest dreams and I am quite literally itching to see him back in action.
