It was sad to see defending champion Andy Murray struggling with a hip injury which led to his defeat lesser players would have retired but he played through the pain barrier how I don’t know……….
Then there was Rafa losing too and his simply sunning performance to make history at Roland Garros this performance was perplexing to say the least don’t worry he’ll be back!
It will make the final months of the tennis season exciting because who knows who will be crowned world number 1 in men’s tennis come November?????
I must also confess to enjoying the womans tennis thanks to Johanna Konta I really did think the Rosebowl was destined for the U.K. at one stage but it was always going to be tough for her to beat Venus Williams but Jo proved over the fortnight she can mix it with the best I will continue to follow her with great interest from now on .
The final match of the tournament was the mixed doubles Jamie Murray/Martina Hingis won it it was a fun match to watch and I think that the Murray brothers should play doubles at Wimbledon once before they retire from tennis.
I’ve been very impressed with British no 1 Johanna Konta so far at Wimbledon hopefully she’ll be the the first british woman to reach the quarter finals since Jo Durie in 1984.
Could she go all the way becoming the first british woman to win the singles title since Virginia Wade in 1977?
It could set up a spectacular weekend for British tennis fans…
